Huawei has announced the new Huawei P30 and the Huawei P30 Pro, Huawei’s competitor to the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus. The Huawei P30 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus ticks almost every box in terms of performance, camera, battery, and design. Which one should you buy? Here’s a quick comparison of the Samsung Galaxy 10 Plus and the Huawei P30 Pro.

Display

In terms of screen size, the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus has 6.4 inches (1440 x 3040) display with 93.1 percent of screen-to-body ratio. The Huawei P30 Pro has a 6.47 inches (1080 x 2340) display with 89 percent of screen-to-body ratio.

The Huawei P30 Pro has a ‘teardrop’ notch whereas the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus has a ‘punch-hole’ for the camera. The Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus has a curved AMOLED display which supports Quad HD+ resolution (vivid colors and bright) whereas the Huawei P30 Pro has an OLED display.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus has a 12MP camera with f/1.5 and f/2.4 and a 12MP f/2.4 telephoto lens and a 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide lens.

The Huawei P30 Pro has a four-camera setup on the back. The P30 Pro has a 40MP camera with f/1.6, which Huawei calls Super Spectrum, a 20MP f/2.2 ultra-wide lens, an 8MP f/3.4 ‘Periscope’ lens for 10x optical zoom, and a time-of-flight lens to measure depth for better bokeh.

On the front, the Huawei P30 Pro has a 32MP camera for selfies. The Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus has a dual camera set up on the front consisting of a 10MP and an 8MP depth-measuring lens.

Features

The Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus is powered by a Snapdragon 855 or Exynos 9820 chipset depending on your region. The Huawei P30 Pro uses a Kirin 980. The Huawei P30 Pro has 8GB of RAM whereas the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus is available with 8GB or 12GB of RAM.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus and Huawei P30 Pro both run on Android 9 (Android Pie). The Huawei P30 Pro and Galaxy S10 Plus have their own user interfaces. The Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus runs OneUI on top of Android Pie whereas the Huawei P30 Pro runs EMUI 9.1 on top of Android Pie.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus measures 157.6 x 74.1 x 7.8mm and weighs at 175g. The Huawei P30 Pro measures 158 x 73.4 x 8.4mm and weighs at 192g. The Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus and the Huawei P30 Pro has an all-glass design with metal frames. The S10 Plus and the P30 Pro have an IP68 rating, which means they are dust and water resistant up to 1 meter.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus starts at $999 for 8GB RAM and128GB of storage, $1,249 for 512GB of storage and 8GB of RAM, $1,599 for 12 GB RAM and 1TB of storage. The Huawei P30 Pro starts £899/999 Euro for 128GB and £1,099/1,249 Euro for 512GB.
